Music by  Ray Henderson

Synopsis

Tait college is having a parade. There is acrobatic dancing while the students sing the school song. They are all determined that Tait will win the forthcoming football match against rivals from Colton College- football being more important to the college than academia.

The annual award from the Bingham foundation will depend on the outcome of this game. Tom Marlow, captain of the football team, can only play on the season's big game because Constance Lane has coached him in astronomy well enough for him to pass his exams.

The all important game is won by Tait and Tom, now a hero, can pursue the more important business of winning Constance, whom he has loved for a long time.

I think this is the year it was so humid there was a layer of haze in the rehearsal room at Eno Hall. I remember Jim Fauntleroy (who played the coach) telling the team to "Shut up!" when one of the sets started to fall down during the locker room scene. I can't remember if that was an ad-lib or a very well placed line of dialogue. I also remember Greg Sireci stealing all my good scenes just by rolling his brown eyes in that way he has. Thanks to years of therapy, I forgive you Greg! I remember Mary Manning, as the heroine, having to smash a dish during a scene and then say "Well (sniff, sniff) at least that's one dish I won't have to wash." And I remember Karen Fritz re-writing the lyrics to "Girls of the Pi Beta Phi" and really making it quite different. ---Lee Whelchel
It's not an All-American memory, so those of you who are deluded into believing that nothing naughty happened while we were in SSTFY, look away. Now.. with that built up, it's actually not such a big deal. Let me put it this way...Missy Post, Carolyn Coe, myself, a bottle of Riuniti Rose, closing night, final number..."Good Booze, you're bound to do me good, come right here to me Good Booze!" When we took the final bow the three of us fell right over - prostrate to the applauding audience. What a wholesome bunch! ---Mary Olivieri-Mullins
